Hair Branding
My hair stylist has just returned from some conference in Toronto. He is now oficially one of the TOP10 professionals in his class. Interestingly enough, the price went up by $5. He still provides the same service, but his personal brand power, his credibility, his status, etc. allow him to push the price up a little.
I find it fascinating. Without change in the core product (which is haircut) whatsoever, you can manage perception of your customers by pure branding. This is one of the reasons, I love marketing.
On the other hand, however, I feel bad about the new price tag. It’s definitely unfair, ’cause I already know the guy, and no matter how ”cool“ he feels about himself, I still get the same treatment. But now 5 bucks more expensive. What makes him exactly 5 bucks closer to loosing me as a client.
